Protection Forcefield
This 8-minute exercise is designed to help you before situations in which you expect there to be social scaries…or anytime you have to talk with people, period. Once you practice it a few times, make it your own! It doesn’t have to be just like I guide you through it to be beneficial and “right.”
Move It Through
One of my least favorite things about social events is the sensory overload of it all: the sounds, the body heat, the smells, the unexpected touching or bumping. It’s all…a lot. When all that hits a sensory-sensitive person, they tend to brace against it (which is protective and necessary at times). This exercise is a supportive approach based on being “porous” and allowing the sensory stuff through the body so that there’s not so much to brace against. Think of it as a way to let more heat out so the body doesn’t “boil over” (aka meltdown) so quickly.
Return + Refill
Sometimes the hardest part about social situations is the aftershock. Whether it’s sensory leftovers, people’s icky vibes or post-convo self-doubt, this venting exercise can help send what’s not serving you back into the ether and refill what sustains and supports you.
